This phone has been a steady workhorse, going strong now for 4 years, when the average life of most phones on the Sprint network is about 6 months to a year...if you push it. I know they hate it that I've been using this one for this long.
Sprint even sent me 2 new Sanyo flips with my last contract, but their signal rang and battery life just do not beat this phone, so I left one of the new ones boxed and the other flip is just my backup phone! In outbound areas, this phone has excellent signal strength and when I first bought it in 2004, the dealer told me not to waste time or money buying the extended life battery, because the battery on this brick is awesome. I'm talking an hour of talk time even after it starts flashing and beeping that the battery is getting low!
For all the bells and whistles on the new phones today, if you can get ahold of this model, they are very durable. A cheap leather case is a MUST to protect it from damage in case of being dropped. You won't have the hing problems you have with flip phones either. This thing is durable. My only angst was that when I went to buy two new ones when renewing my contract, these little jems were out of stock and being phased out of the Sprint arsenal. After a month on back order, they finally pressed me to take an upgrade to the Sanyo flip (SCP-8400) but the phone although equiped with video and photo capabilities, does not have the battery life or range of my 4920 "BRICK."
Outstanding phone if you can get your hands on one.
