My scores may not reflect how much I really have appreciated this phone. It has been with me for a few years and even after having replaced it with newer models, seemed to come to the rescue when they have petered out. It's been to the bottom of a river and back. Still Worked. It's been lost in the woods on a hunting trip, still worked. My dog took it for a run around the house, no problem. She ain't pretty but man she can take a beating and still make a call and receive/send my corp email. Thank's old friend.

you can only send MMS messages, not real text messages to Phone Numbers.
very poor battery.
i have had at least 4 handsets since 2005 when i got this. once, it completely died, no explanation. make sure you back it up regularly.

Not Worth the Money

I've had a lot of trouble with my phone. Last year it stopped working suddenly after I had used it for approx. 9 mo. I took it into my Sprint Store and they were unable to figure out what was wrong. After 10 days I received a new phone, but it was really a refurbished phone from Staples. It still had Staple's name on the registration tab. Even though Sprint (at the time) advertised that if you pay the $7 it will give you a phone to use if you have to send yours back, the Sprint Store refused to give me a loner so I was without. While the phone works ok most of the time, it has one very annoying glitch. It constantly is asking me if I want to change the time on it. I've tried to fix this problem several times, but it keeps coming back up. My previous phone didn't do that at all.
On the positive side, I haven't had an issue finding service wherever I am at. The phone does pick up a signal well.

The battery life is very short lived and it is very hard to hold and type yur messages with any speed an efficiency. While driveing it is almost impossible to hold the phone and read or type letters to reply to a e-mail. The phone has a very poor speaker phone and the overall performance of the phone is lacking at best.

I did my research before I purchased this phone over 2 years ago. I wanted to make sure it would do everything I needed for at least 2 years. So far it has. I love the keyboard. It holds all my phone numbers and addresses. The Tele-Nav service is awesome. I love the fact that I can send emails from several addresses from my phone and receive only emails from those I choose and they are all kept in a seperate folder. It's basically a little computer.
As long as you are aware that a lot of the functions continuosly use power as long as you are in that program you're fine. And you can have more than one program running at once. I keep a USB cable and/or power card with me if I am away from my car charger and I am o.k. I have dropped it several times and it keeps on going.
I am now looking for an upgrade to something like the Mogul but until then I'm in no rush.

Don't even think about it...

I had this phone for two weeks and got the white screen of death. The phone completey fried and I lost over 100 contacts and all of their information along with a fairly substantial address book.
While I was usine it I had problems with the email function and the general ease of use with the device. Things were not where you expected them to be such as pulling up applications, ringer volume and basic phone functions. I would reccommend the Palm Centro over this any day of the week.

I hate this phone. It seems that the Sprint end of the business gets all the good phones. Why can't the Nextel end of the business catch up. This is a senior citizen of a phone. My kids wonder why we're still using Sprint/Nextel. They want us to move to Verizon. Speaks for itself, doesn't it? My understanding is that we should not expect any new Blackberry models on the Nextel network for at least another year. Frankly, that's pathetic!

Terrible phone

Odd phone. I have had now for 2 years and have not been impressed. Phone falls out of case all the time, terrible phone reception, battery does not last more that 1 day. Goofy GUI software design. Combining e-mail, SMS, and phone service into one inbox is confusing. I am not impressed with Blackberry's at all. Treo, Samsung, and others have surpassed RIM with better and sleeker phones/PDA's. We purchased our Blackberry's under the Nextel label. I am hoping the Sprint/Nextel merger will bring either a new sleeker type of Blackberry or another type of phone that works better.

A solid but aging performer

I've had a BlackBerry for nearly three years and got a 7520 two days after it was released (well over two years ago). I love the email service and the 7520 is a quality handset for sure. The speakerphone is by far the best I've heard on ANY cell phone, the screen is easy to read in most light conditions, and the keyboard is "just right" (even for my big fingers). In fact, I like it better than what my ratings show.
I think my biggest problem is the lack of features. As I mentioned, it's over two years old and a lot of competitors have had plenty of time to surpass RIM. I realize that other carriers may have BlackBerries with fancy "consumer" features such as cameras and MP3 players, but Nextel NEEDS to get an updated version. The 7100i just doesn't cut it - better screen but still no serious features.
I'm probably going to be switching to a Windows Mobile device with all the goodies. I really don't want to give up on Nextel but, since the merger, it has become the unwanted stepchild to Sprint Nextel. I don't see things getting better unfortunately....

I must say that after two years, I really have not had many complaints until recently. It must be a said that this device functions best as a mobile office, not a true voice device in the classic sense. Speakerphone, email, direct connect are all stupendous, but the regular phone feature was a bit lacking. Bluetooth performance was slightly better than marginal. One MAJOR problem I ran into is lack of support for retail repair at the service centers. I suppose that they malfunction or break so infrequently, no one keeps parts, batteries, etc in stock! I call it the Volvo effect. They don't break offend but when they do -- look out!
The other major problem with these devices is plan pricing. It is too expensive in comparison of their other offerings and the competition.
All and all, my blackberry experience was pleasant until 3 weeks ago. I will eventually purchase another, but that won't be until the WiMAX rollout

Great email device

If you are looking for a great email device and smart phone ... this is your meat and potatoes value baby! I am not much into downloading music etc so the fact that this isn't your top of the line gadget for music isn't a problem for me. Most of the value of this device for me is in staying connected when I dont have my laptop with me. I am sure there are others who would concur.
