Really like this phone

- March 8, 2011
I really like this phone. Have started texting more often to reach a couple of my sons and it takes longer with the keys. They are large enough but not like a Querty board. Occasional problems with battery life. Added new battery little over a year ago. It's just running as fast as it can on it's last legs. I've had it several years.

Excellent basic phone

- March 8, 2011
This is a good basic phone - and I've had it nearly 7 years - but seems battery life is shortening so I am looking for a replacement battery. Buttons are a bit small and because there is no cover over the buttons, it some times dials numbers or records on its own. However reception is good as I live out in the sticks and it does as well or better than most phones. It does have internet access and emails, downloads, etc. but they are pricey (Sprint's fault - not the phone). It is, as I said, a good basic phone and all that i need. Love the speakerphone.

Not too shabby!

- June 24, 2008
This is all I need, a cell phone that never loses signal, has excellent battery life, does not have that sometimes annoying flip action, and it's easy to use. It has Vision capabilities and texting without having to connect to the web. All those new phones are just too flashy and have too many gadgets. A really nice feature is the ringer volume is actually loud, you can hear it from a couple of rooms across, which is not recommended in certain public places. I just got this phone a couple of weeks ago, new in box, and I have no problems. The only thing that would make this a killer phone is a black version.

Mine Looks Like Heck, But Still Works Great!

- June 17, 2008
I wish they mad the newer phones this well. It works when friends fancy iphones won't. I've read that it has the highest RF Gain of any phone out there, so i went with it when I first started traveling in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm probably frying my brain because of the strong output, but it has fewer dropped calls than any other phone I've seen. Does Sanyo have a newer model which does as well?

Work Horse

- May 14, 2008
This phone has been a steady workhorse, going strong now for 4 years, when the average life of most phones on the Sprint network is about 6 months to a year...if you push it. I know they hate it that I've been using this one for this long.
Sprint even sent me 2 new Sanyo flips with my last contract, but their signal rang and battery life just do not beat this phone, so I left one of the new ones boxed and the other flip is just my backup phone! In outbound areas, this phone has excellent signal strength and when I first bought it in 2004, the dealer told me not to waste time or money buying the extended life battery, because the battery on this brick is awesome. I'm talking an hour of talk time even after it starts flashing and beeping that the battery is getting low!
For all the bells and whistles on the new phones today, if you can get ahold of this model, they are very durable. A cheap leather case is a MUST to protect it from damage in case of being dropped. You won't have the hing problems you have with flip phones either. This thing is durable. My only angst was that when I went to buy two new ones when renewing my contract, these little jems were out of stock and being phased out of the Sprint arsenal. After a month on back order, they finally pressed me to take an upgrade to the Sanyo flip (SCP-8400) but the phone although equiped with video and photo capabilities, does not have the battery life or range of my 4920 "BRICK."
Outstanding phone if you can get your hands on one.

Toyota of cell phones

- May 12, 2008
This phone isn't the slickest around, but you can't kill it. Mine has been in HARD use for at least four years, still functions perfectly. Battery will hold two days charge. Very sturdy and reliable. I cracked the screen about three years ago, just keeps on going. Most of the surfaces are worn, cracked, faded but everything still works!! I wish everything were built this well nowadays. I will definitely look for Sanyo products based on my experience with this phone.

I don't need all the bells and whistles just a phone that works! This little phone is like a Timex, it won't die. Still on the original battery! Worn around the edges from use and abuse. All the functions still work. What more can you ask for from an inexpensive phone?

RL-4920

- May 9, 2008
Excellent, I use a hardware clip hooked into the phone case and wear it on my belt loop. I wear the phone 18 hours a day and I work construction. I have drop the phone, kicked the phone and even lost the phone once, like a time-x it just keeps on working. Very durable and rugged. Sprint customer service representatives have name this style of phone the *Candy Bar* phone. This isn't the phone for txt msgs or internet play. This is a phone for a working *person*.

Too small

- May 6, 2008
Phone was overall pretty great. Unfortunately it was too small to reach my ear and my mouth at the same time. I sounded muffled to everyone for 3 years. Just make it a bit bigger (like the 4900), and I'd be thrilled!

Good phone for the value

- May 6, 2008
I've had the RL-4920 for over four years and would just update the phone over the years. I've always been satisfied with the value and performance of the phone. The only problem I experienced was if I forgot to lock the keys and I would accidentally dial someone without knowing. I would still have the phone had I not dropped it in some water while driving and it sat for about an hour... I miss that phone. (heavy sigh)

Excellent Phone

- May 5, 2008
An all around great phone! Husband and I both got one and while the screens on both of them cracked (after dropping it a few dozen times - our fault), they continued to work great. I have long since upgraded my phone... I put it off for the longest time, but couldn't take the cracked screen anymore. My Husband on the other hand still uses his every day (his cracked down the side while mine cracked down the middle)! It seems like it was about 5 or 6 years ago when we purchased them.

Pretty good for the most part

- April 28, 2008
I've had 2 RL-4920s. The first one I had been using for years and I did not have any problems until about the second year, maybe third. It would not go on silent anymore. No matter what setting it said it was at it always rang at level one and vibrate. Also the alarm clock would not go off some days even if set for the correct time and on. My new phone is the exact same model. It has not had any problems so far. The phone is very durable, I'm happy with the battery life, and its very easy to use although it is a bit bulky. I did not pay for the phone, we received both of them free, so I can't really talk about the value. Still a lot of times I don't have any or will have very few bars in places where other people do, though that may just be sprint, I'm not sure. Dropped calls are not rare, but are not frequent either. Though I would prefer a newer model with other features, this phone is pretty good and I have no real complaints that would cause me to hate my phone or get a new one.

Great Phone. I have had it for a long time ( years). It has outlasted all the family phones for my wife and sons. I will not replace it until it can no longer be repaired by Sprint services. My family is always trying to get me to replace it but why replace something that works great.
